I understand why people wouldn't like this PvP, I just don't understand why people would like the PvE.

Cant speak for anyone else, but I enjoy the character development, getting new abilities/skills, and trying to find out how to put them to best use(NOT in PvP! That would be WAY too much stress, trying to constantly keep up with new builds and such, especially when (unless new content comes soon enough, the builds will eventually stabilize a bit, as people figure out "the" build to PvP for a certain class). Personally, I think that in PvP(especially 1v1), all classes should have the EXACT same setup for that class. All of a particular class would have the same armor, weapons, offhands(if chosen), same exact health and energy levels. This wouldnt be a case of "Who can counter who better", but is TRULY a test of skill, as the opposition has the same things you do, and it comes down to who uses it better(strategy, timing, coordination, ect). Just my 2 cents.

STOP SHOOTING! /ducks, hides

I find that I progress through PvE at a rather glacial pace most of the time. Just doing a few quests can sometimes chew up a couple of hours without me realizing it. Anyway, there's always something I want to do next, it's just a matter of prioritizing. Also, I'm hoping that in the future they'll make it easier to form groups for specific tasks/quests that are somewhat unpopular, like the bonuses in every mission from riverside onwards, or the titan quests, etc. I've been wanting to do those since November, but can never find more than a couple people interested in starting a group. A new group creation system (something global maybe?) would really do away with a lot of wasted downtime.

I just prefer co-op over competitive play. It's more fun for me to play with someone than against someone. And, yes, I realize you're playing with a party in PvP, but still...it just doesn't interest me as much as exploring Tyria with a group of friends, even if it's the 200th time we've done so.

Everyone has a preference, not all of them the same as yours. Guild Wars caters to both.

I just can't fathom what all the purely PvE players are doing.
This, that and the other.

For me, the PvE side of the game have loads of things to keep me entertained and busy. I haven't finished the game yet and I'm working through it in a reasonable pace. Rather than getting one character through the story, I'm working on 3. When I get so far and fancy a break from being a warrior, I switch to mesmer or ranger and so on. Just got two of them ascended now. If I want a break from advancing the story, I would either join pugs to help other players with missions, or I go on an exploring trip. When I explore I tend to pick a town/out post, pick a direction from there and just go, and see where it takes me. I once joined someone on a long journey. The two of us met at Bergen Hot Springs, heard someone in Local Chat say that ToA was NW from there. So we did a road trip out from Bergen to find ToA. To make the journey more challenging, we didn't take any henchies - it was just the two of us. Once we got to ToA, we looked around, tried to get into FoW and UW but couldn't - wasn't ascended at the time. So we left ToA and continued with our adventure. We followed any paths that took our fancy, in between fighting we did some sightseeing. And our long walk ended at Fisherman's Haven. There's still many places on my map uncovered and I would like to explore those areas. I just find it enjoyable to go exploring.
